Jubilee Celebrations in Dorset!

Great news – the sun is back here in Dorset! We hope that’s the wet weather behind us now, because we’ve got lots of really exciting things to do over the next few weeks. The Queen’s Jubilee is going to be one big party for the whole country, and we mean to celebrate in style here at Newlands! Here’s a couple of things we’re looking forward to in the coming weeks...

Royal Navy Ship in Lyme Regis 18th - 20th May


HMS Edinburgh, a type 42 warship from the Royal Navy, will be sailing into Lyme Bay on 18th May, marking the official start of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations in Lyme Regis. It will join the giant Silverlines Cruise Ship, which will be mooring in the bay to allow its American passengers to disembark and enjoy the pleasures of the town and learn about its rich history.

These impressive vessels moored in the bay will bear witness to a weekend of fun, pomp and celebration, including a grand ceremony planned to mark the renaming of the central pavilion in honour of the Jubilee. Can’t wait!

Over at our caravan park in Dorset, we have a packed line-up of events going on throughout the week. One of the main highlights is The Big Lunch BBQ, which takes place on Sunday June 3rd from 12 noon to 2pm on the patio and conservatory.

Griff Griffiths will be providing live music, and there will be face painting and prizes for best fancy dress. Demand will be high, so it’s a ticket only event (available from reception). Prices are £7.50 for adults and £5.25 for children.

'Friendly staff, the staff in the shop was incredibly welcoming! Loved how we were escorted to our pitch and also offered help with putting the caravan on the pitch. Swimming pool was small but ideal, good sauna! Outdoor pool was lovely also! Facilities were spotless considering we had awful weather they work extremely hard! Very clean site, great value for money!'

Good location with Charmouth beach and lyme regis near. Nice facilities on site and nice rooms. The tow bar restaurant is a gem with great food. Liked the activities on our stay like bingo. Overall a good stay and would love to come back again.
 

"Everything we needed"

Very tidy site, well laid out and well equipped. Towbar restaurant offered a good selection of quality food at all meal times, very good value for money and super friendly service. There is a small shop on site for all your essentials with access to another slightly larger shop in the village. Two pools and children’s play areas plus a gaming room were a real bonus. Shower and toilet blocks were cleaned regularly and always kept in good order. Location is fantastic, especially for avid fossil hunters with Charmouth beach around 20 minutes easy walk away through the village.
 

"What a wonderful place"

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Newlands. We stayed in the studio apartment block down the end (A17). The apartment was incredibly clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a short stay. My twin sons (3.5 years old) had the twin room, mum had the double bed, and I stayed on a blow up mattress that I brought with. We were very comfy.
