Things to Do

There are plenty of amazing things to do with your family in Charmouth and the wider Dorset area. Discover the independent shops in Charmouth Town, many of which sell fossils, baked goods, crystals, artwork, and other locally produced goods. During the months of May to September, there is a fantastic market that you can attend in the local town. The market takes place every Monday, here you can find a treasure trove of different oddities such as antiques, handmade gifts, freshly made food, and so much more.

Charmouth Beach is an excellent place for families to visit on their holidays. This sandy beach is perfect for sunbathing and swimming, but perhaps most famously – fossil hunting! Guests are encouraged to visit the Heritage Centre to learn all about the fossils and dinosaurs that have been discovered there. If you’re feeling inspired, you have the option to rent your own fossil-hunting gear from the Heritage Centre before heading back to the beach. You can find plenty of small ammonites and other marine fossils along the bay at Charmouth Beach – and who knows, you may even find an undiscovered dinosaur skeleton!
