5 Great Things to Do in Summer on The Jurassic Coast

Are you making plans for the summer holidays on the Jurassic Coast? Perhaps you're looking for days out with the kids or maybe a short break? From days at the beach, to visiting top local attractions to outdoor adventure and sampling local food, here are 5 great things to do in summer on the Jurassic Coast.

Charmouth beach

When you arrive at our Charmouth holiday park at Newlands one of the first port of calls has to be the beach! If you're longing for the sea, you're in luck - we are located just 15 minutes walk to Charmouth beach. Perfect for a spot of fossil hunting and the home of the must-visit Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre. It's also a popular spot for taking to the water, especially stand-up paddle boarding. We stock a range of paddle boards and body boards in our shop. Pop in and see what we have available then head to the water and make a splash on your holiday!

 

Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens

In just under half an hour's drive along the Jurassic Coast the subtropical gardens at Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens are well worth a visit. The enchanting 18th century gardens have an abundance of rare plants. It takes around 45 minutes to walk around and has suitability for wheelchair access. Set in a relaxed environment, this top local attraction offers great areas for enjoying a picnic as well as a lovely cafe.

Lyme Regis

If you're staying at Newlands a short 10 minute drive to Lyme Regis (or 3 mile coastal walk) is likely to be on your agenda. Simply relax and soak up all the atmosphere and seaside charm of the Lyme Regis coast and harbour. There's plenty of things to see and do to get more of the Jurassic Coast experience. Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium is a traditional family run attraction offering visitors a fun and interactive way to learn about marine life.

Golden Cap

Golden Cap is the highest point on the South Coast, and provides a spectacular view of the Jurassic Coast. It takes roughly 40 minutes to walk up the coastal path from Seatown, and you won't be disappointed by the views.

Lyme Bay Rib Charter

The popular Lyme Bay Rib Charter sets off from the quayside in West Bay and has options for trips. These include the 'West Bay Blast' or enjoy take in the views with a longer coastal cruise. Either way, you'll have a great time and unique views of The Jurassic Coast. Highly recommended!
