The Melplash Show

The Melplash Show is back for another year and set to be bigger and better than ever before. This one day extravaganza takes place at West Bay Showground, a short drive from our holiday park near Bridport, and provides plenty of agricultural themed fun for all the family. Over the course of the day there will be a jam packed schedule of horse, livestock and horticulture competitions. As well as 400 trade stalls with numerous cookery demonstrations in the giant food hall.

Horses and livestock

The event contains a full schedule of competitions for horses, show jumping and heavy horses. In addition, there will be livestock classes for cattle, sheep, goats and pigs.

The Sheep Show


The Sheep Show contains no fewer than nine breeds of sheep taking to a live stage all of their own. A humorous runs theme throughout this attraction, and there's even a dancing sheep display!

Falconry Display


Don't miss Jonathan Marshall, the world renowned falconer who has built a strong reputation over the last 30 years. At The Melplash Show you can see his unique display that combines birds with Spanish horses.

Farming

Several farming marquees can be found at The Melplash show including the Dorset Young Farmers Marquee with sheep sheering demonstrations. The Discover Farming Marquee gives an introduction to food production with hands-on activities. Finally, The Explore Farming Marquee is dedicated to youngsters who are interested in starting a career in farming in the future.

Cookery

The Cookery Theatre hosts a day of demonstrations from food and drink experts. This year, the Bridport born celebrity chef Mark Hix will be talking about the recipes from his latest book. He'll be joined by numerous other skilled local chefs and drinks experts.

Public bar

The Melplash Inn is a fantastic pop-up pub hosted by Palmers Brewery of Bridport. A chance to sample the award winning and locally brewed range of delicious Palmers fine ales.

Trade stands

Over 400 trade stalls can be found at the show offering something for everyone. From locally produced delicacies to farming machinery, fencing and game rearing supplies, there's enough to keep the whole family entertained.
