Sidmouth Folk Festival

2nd – 9th August 2019

Sidmouth Folk Festival is fast approaching and this year’s event is set to be a celebration to remember. Commencing on the 2nd August and running over the course of a week, this annual event in South Devon is a family favourite and well worth a visit during your stay at Newlands Holidays.

Celebrating 65 years in style

Sidmouth Folk Festival is now in its 65th year having run every August since 1955. This year the milestone is celebrated with new branding and a new name (formally Sidmouth Folk Week). The festival is even bigger than before with over 750 programmed events planned to take place during the week.

The event gets underway at 7:30pm on Thursday 1st August with a welcome to Sidmouth Folk Festival in Market Square, featuring Great Western Morris, Sidmouth Steppers and much more.

A week of music, dance and song

Sidmouth Folk Festival keeps an ear to the past by supporting established favourites, as well as an eye on the emerging stars of the future. The action-packed programme of events features a gloriously diverse range of entertainment and performance to suit all tastes and ages.

The 2019 line-up is vast with shows taking places across multiple venues. These include The Ham, The Bulverton and smaller concert venues such as The Manor Pavillion, The Cellar Bar, Bedford Hotel and Woodlands Hotel. The festival includes something for everyone – storytelling, spoken word, workshops, folk dance and ceilidhs.
