Dog Friendly Attractions

If you have got your dog on holiday with you are are needing some inspiration for things to do, the following is a list of dog friendly attractions. It is best to confirm that dogs are still welcome and that it will meet your requirements as some attractions may have areas with restrictions.

The Donkey Sanctuary

    

The Donkey Sanctuary- Sidmouth is open 365 days a year from 9am until dusk. Admission and parking are free. Dogs are welcome but should be kept on a lead.

Seaton Tramway

  

Seaton Tram operates between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton and travels through two nature reserves alongside the River Axe. All dogs travel for a flat fare of £1.00 each but must travel on the lower deck.

Bicton Park Botanical Gardens

  

The Botanical Gardens at Budleigh Salterton has many rare plants from all over the world and spans nearly 300 years of horticultural history. There is also one of Britains finest collection of trees. Dogs are charged at £1.00 and must be kept on a lead at all times.

Swanage Railway

Swanage Railway is an award winning standard gauge steam railway. Visitors can experience a unique 6 mile journey through stunning countryside and passing the magnificent ruins of Corfe Castle. Dogs are welcome on the trains for £1 for a single and £2 for a return to or from any destination.

Sherborne Castle Grounds and Gardens

  

Sherborne Castle is a historic house built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594 set in 42 acres of beautiful gardens and grounds. Dogs are welcome in the gardens however no dogs (except guide dogs or assistance dogs) are permitted in the castle, shop or tearoom.

Durlston Country Park & Marine Project

    

Durlston Country Park and Marine Project is situated 1 mile from Swanage and is a 280 acre countryside paradise. With stunning views and great walking trails the park consists of sea-cliffs, coastal limestone downlands, hedgerows and woodland. Dogs are welcome but please keep them on a lead or under close control. Water bowls are provided outside the Visitor centre.

Corfe Castle Model Village

  

The model village is situated in the heart of Corfe Castle village on the Isle of Purbeck and demonstrates what the Castle and village would have looked like before being destroyed by Cromwell's army in 1646. Included in the model village is fossil corner, gift shop, giant family games and tea room. Dogs are welcome throughout the whole attraction including the tea room.

Glastonbury Abbey

  

Glastonbury Abbey is situated in 36 acres of beautiful parkland in the centre of the market town of Glastonbury. Many believe that King Arthur and Queen Guinevere are buried in the grounds. Dogs are welcome provided they are kept on a lead as there are badgers, squirrels, ducks and geese on site.

Forde Abbey & Gardens

  

Forde Abbey and Gardens is a former Cistercian monastery with 30 acres of award winning gardens situated near Chard. The Mermaid Pond is home to the spectacular Centenary Fountain. With a maximum height of 160ft it is the highest powered fountain in England. Well behaved dogs are welcome on a lead around the gardens and in the tearoom, unfortunately they cannot go into the main house.

Cheddar Gorge and Caves

   

The 3 mile long gorge is the biggest in Britain with cliffs rising to over 450ft. Deep within the gorge there are two of the finest stalactite caverns. Cox's Cave is startling in its beauty, it is tiny with little narrow passages, full of amazing colours and picturesque reflective pools. Dogs are welcome in the caves, gorge and museum.

Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week 22rd - 29th July 2017

22nd July - 29th July 2017. Family fun in aid of RNLI. Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week is a week full of fun, from a Teddy Bears Picnic, Pavement Art to Swimming in the Bay. There will be various displays, music evenings, fireworks, RAF Displays and Duck race. Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week certainly has something for everyone!
